Sanan Anuar
Born in 1992, lives and works in Kuala Lumpur

Born in Kelantan, Sanan Anuar moved to Kuala Lumpur where he founded the screenprinting workshop Bogus Merchandise in 2011. Close to the alternative scene, he developed a style with a strong identity, blending traditional and international influences to serve a very personal narrative. With a carefully chosen set of means, recurring motifs, and forms, he creates a theatrical environment between memories and his own understanding of the world. Through intimate references, where he stages himself alongside evocations of his family, lived episodes, and close environment, he questions his identity, the young Malaysian society and its political tensions.

His current works include numerous references to his own body, questioning the boundaries between the artist and his own work. In 2023, he held his first solo exhibition, Potret Diri .
