Kitikong Tilokwattanotai
Born in 1978, lives and works in Chiang Mai,
Thailand
A graduate of Chiang Mai and New South Wales universities, Kitikong has established himself as one of the finest printmakers of his generation, founding C.A.P Studio in 2003.
His printmaking work intimately combines the purity of effects with the physical presence of gesture, elegantly exploring the subtle textures of matter and the density of ink. His paintings merge a profound sense of colour with the use of lacquer, giving them great depth and playing with transparency.
Kitikong’s abstract art shifts away from imitation toward a more intimate engagement with the work, echoing an attempt at communication through writing, focused on the act rather than the meaning. Embracing many mediums and straddling the boundaries of painting, sculpture, and printmaking, his art stands out for its remarkable visual generosity.
