A GalleryLab residency by Ramlan Abdullah
Installing in the gallery space some artworks and mock-ups that accompany him daily in his studio, furnishing it with tables he has created himself, and bringing in no less than 200 drawings, Ramlan Abdullah has inaugurated a flexible form of residency, entirely oriented towards the desire to engage with others, visitors, artists and curator. Creating on-site three times a week, he reclaims the exhibition space to better bridge the divide between gallery and art centre, between art that is viewed and art that takes shape through a process.
These two months of research took the form of a print, simultaneously inaugurating the Tali Print Series.
About the Lab
The GalleryLab aims to provide a space conducive to experimentation, free from any imperative of achievement or predefined expectations. What matters most is the desire to push the boundaries of creation within a space—the art gallery—where the quality of the works often overshadows the essential role of research and trial.
